Apple’s upcoming iPhones – which we assume to be named as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus – have been trending across all the technology channels for quite a few weeks now with new leaks and rumors building up the excitement. However, the Cupertino giant has finally sent out invites for the official event which will be held at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on September 7th. Apple is expected to unveil two or maybe three variants of the 2016 iPhone and probably an updated Apple Watch too. Unfortunately, chances for a Macbook Pro refresh are on the lower side.
Along with specifications upgrades, the iPhone 7 will reportedly ditch the headphone jack in favor of a slimmer body and better audio performance. On the design front, changes will be minimal such as the cleaner antenna lines. Furthermore, there are also talks of the next iPhone being waterproof for competing Samsung’s intact and incredibly successful S7 lineup. Moreover, the Plus variant is expected to sport a dual-camera setup for capturing better shots, and this time around, Apple might finally wave goodbye to the 16GB storage option making 32GB as the base variant. The new iPhones could also feature the true-tone display introduced on the iPad Pro earlier. More on the display, a series of reports claimed Apple is planning to switch to OLED panels. If a recent hearsay is believed to be true, Apple might also farewell the home button and opt for something else, rumors say the screen will function as a fingerprint reader. Although, the latter most certainly is not happening.
On the wearable booth, the almost two-year-old Apple Watch is expected to receive a massive upgrade with a built-in GPS chip, better internals, new materials and a lighter overall aesthetic. The event will also trigger the public rollout of software updates Apple introduced at WWDC including iOS 10 and WatchOS 3.
