When it comes to wearables, Withings likes to keep things sweet and simple. That’s a trait seen in its Withings Activite and the more affordable Withings Activite Pop. And now, that mantra is being passed onto the Withings Steel HR, the Nokia-owned company’s most fetching tracker yet.
The Steel HR, like the others, is an analog watch. Smartwatch enthusiasts will have to look elsewhere, like to the recently announced Asus ZenWatch 3 or the Samsung Gear S3 Classic.
But that doesn’t mean you won’t find smart features hidden beneath the steel chassis. In fact, Withings claims that the Steel HR is the world’s first analog tracker to feature heart rate monitoring.
The watch is capable of continuous heart rate monitoring, as well keeping track of resting heart rate during sleep. You’ll be able to see it on the newly-added digital complication, which can also push smartphone notifications. We like that the added digital feature doesn’t take away its analog novelty.
And, of course, due to the lack of a constantly-refreshing, colored screen, the Steel HR has awesome battery life. 25 days, to be precise. Withings states that after 25 days of continuous heart rate monitoring, the feature can be turned off and the watch will last for an additional 20 days before needing to be recharged.
The Withings Steel HR will be available in two sizes: 36mm (with a 18mm strap) and 40mm (with a 20mm strap.) You can pick up this smart analog watch from Withings’ website in the beginning of October. The 36mm version will cost $179.95 (about £136, AU$238) and $199.95 (about £156, AU$258) for the 40mm version. It will be available elsewhere at the end of October.
