Huawei Honor 8 with Dual-Camera Setup Launched in India at Rs 29,999

Huawei has finally brought their Honor flagship device – Honor 8 to India, originally announced back in July this year. The most notable feature it offers is the rear dual-camera setup that functions, more or less, the same way the Huawei P9 does i.e. one that captures RGB shots and another for Monochrome. Honor 8 also flaunts an astonishing glass back and metal chassis providing an elegant look overall.

In terms of raw specifications, the Honor 8 comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD panel up front and is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 950 Octa-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz paired with a 4GB RAM, Mali-T880 MP4 GPU and a non-removable 3000 mAh battery WITHOUT Fast Charging. Storage wise, Huawei has included 32/64 GB internal which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a hybrid slot.

The camera arrangement features a dual f/2.2 12MP rear setup with dual-tone flash, 1.25 µm pixel size, laser autofocus and an 8MP f/2.4 front shooter with a pixel size of 1.4 µm. Unfortunately, alike the P9, Honor 8 cannot shoot 4K videos. It runs on a custom skin, Emotion UI 4.1 layered on top of Android Marshmallow. Furthermore, there’s a fingerprint scanner on the back, USB Type-C port on the bottom, DTS sound, and it supports Dual-SIM and 4G LTE.

Huawei Honor 8 will be available in four color variants: Pearl White, Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, and Gold at a price of Rs 29,999. It’s quite bewildering to presume why Huawei ditched the fast charging specifically for the Indian variant and moreover, VoLTE has been also surprisingly left out. And not to mention the lack of Dual SIM support despite sporting a Hybrid SIM slot. It’s pretty optimistic pricing from Huawei, who is banking on the lower end variant called Honor 8 Sport for value conscious crowd. Additionally, OnePlus 3 (which supports 4K video, quick charging, and VoLTE), the leader of sub-30,000 price bracket has been performing exceptionally in sales and customer satisfaction stretching Huawei’s problems further. But then, Honor 8 will be sold offline as well, where the likes of OnePlus 3 and Mi 5 have zero presence.
