Cool Changer S1 with Snapdragon 821 SoC and Harman Dual Speakers Launched

LeEco and Coolpad’s joint smartphone venture dubbed Cool has now launched their flagship smartphone known as Cool Changer S1 in China. Precisely speaking, the Cool S1 has a lot in similar with LeEco’s flagship superphones.

Cool Changer S1

The Cool Changer S1 sports a metal unibody design with a 7.5mm thin profile. The flagship smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x1080) IPS LCD display flanked by a microphone grille and three capacitive buttons. Powering the Cool Changer S1 is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor that is also found inside the LeEco Le Pro3. Besides, the Cool Changer S1 comes with either 64 or 128GB internal storage options, which are apparently based on UFS 2.0. The phone comes in three variants – 4GB RAM/32GB storage, 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/128GB storage.

Under the hood, the flagship phablet from Cool comes with a 4700 mAh battery that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. In an interesting addition, the Cool Changer S1 comes with Qualcomm Izat positioning system. Basically, the smartphone uses XTRA + GNSS positioning technology to pinpoint your location within just 2 secs. Coming to optics, the Cool Changer S1 packs a 16MP f/2.0 Sony IMX298 powered rear camera with PDAF sensor and dual tone dual LED Flash. This, apparently, is the same sensor that’s found on the likes of OnePlus 3, Xiaomi Mi5 etc. The rear camera is paired with an 8MP front-facing selfie snapper. The main talking point of the smartphone, however, is the dual symmetrical speakers on the Cool Changer S1. The flagship smartphone comes with a Smart PA amplifier sourced from leading audio brand Harman.

The Cool Changer S1 is priced at 3199 Yuan ($460/Rs 31,117 approx.) for the top end variant featuring 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The cheaper 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/64GB storage are priced at 2499 Yuan and 2699 Yuan respectively. It comes in two color variants – black, gold- and has already gone on sale in China via LeMall, Coolpad, JD.com, Suning Tesco and TMall. Just like previous Cool phones, this too isn’t expected to make an international debut anytime soon.
