Just like every CES, this year too manufacturers from all around the world showcased their top tier computers with superior hardware crammed in compact aesthetics – whether it’s Samsung’s new gaming brand or Asus’ super sleek business laptops. Hence, here we discuss five most interesting laptops announced at CES 2017.

1. Dell’s $799 gaming laptop

While most OEMs such as Acer were busy justifying a price tag of $8999 for their insanely capable laptops, Dell unveiled its new Inspiron 14 and 15 7000 gaming machines that start at an astonishing sum of $799. These computers sport Nvidia’s new 1050 and 1050 Ti cards and are powered by seventh-gen Core i5 7300HQ or Core i7 7700HQ quad-core chips. The design itself looks quite charming with red and black accents.

2. Samsung’s new stylus-equipped Chromebooks

After being leaked constantly for the last couple of weeks, Samsung finally launched its new Chromebook lineup – the $449 Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro whose price hasn’t been revealed yet. Both obviously, run on Chrome OS and support Android applications. Furthermore, they feature a spectacular 12.3-inch 2400 x 1600 pixel LED display, an all-metal chassis, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, come with a 360-degree hinge, and most importantly, there’s a stylus which can be rested in a dedicated port and also used as a “laser pointer”. The only difference between the two models is in their processors, the Plus has an ARM-based chip, while the Pro uses an Intel Core M3 processor.

3. Asus’ new 14-inch business laptop weighs only 2.3 pounds

Asus has been killing lately in the notebook business and their uncanny objective to make the thinnest ones in the market was apparent this time too. The new AsusPro B9440 features a rich magnesium-alloy chassis and it weighs merely 2.3 pounds which is slightly less than Lenovo’s Thinkpad X1 Carbon. The rest of the hardware includes seventh-generation Intel processors, a fingerprint reader, and the spill-resistant keyboard is actually titled for a better typing experience.

4. Dell XPS 13 2-in-1

Dell turned one of the best Windows laptops out there in a convertible and the result is a nearly bezel-less tablet with a fantastic hardware. The new XPS 13 2-in-1 features a 13-inch InfinityEdge display with just a 5.2mm border and as a result, the PC maker has managed to squeeze everything into an 11-inch body. Other than that, though, the laptop runs on the Core M line of processors, come with a promise of 15 hours of battery life on the FHD model, two USB Type-C ports, and it drops the standard SD card slot in favor of a MicroSD one. Moreover, there’s also a Windows Hello-compatible camera, so you can log into Windows 10 with just your face.

5. Razer’s Project Valerie

Razer showcased its new Project Valerie at CES which puts three 4K displays on a single laptop. For terming it as a portable computer, Razer has opted for a butterfly design and the two displays have a motorized hinge that puts them in the edge positions whenever required and neatly slides them back under the main panel when closed. It’s definitely one of the greatest piece of engineering advancements we’ve witnessed at this year’s CES but as I said, it’s still a prototype and won’t be available to purchase anytime soon.

CES 2017 provided a glimpse into how manufacturers will be shaping the personal computer in this year. Laptops will be now getting exceedingly portable without giving up the power factor at all. It will be interesting to see how they advance from this stage.
