Toshiba’s new Portégé X20W convertible laptop announced at the ongoing CES boasts of offering an impressive 16-hours of battery life. While this is not the best-rated battery life (LG has just claimed that their Gram 14 laptop will last for a whopping 21 hours!) it indeed falls into a niche of laptop convertibles with batteries lasting for more than 10-hours, a niche that was until recently dominated by the Apple MacBooks. That said the Portégé X20W is yet to be tested in real-time conditions and see if it’s any better than the other convertibles out there.
The Portégé X20W is driven by the seventh gen Intel Core processor and being a convertible laptop it does offer a 360-degree hinge that lets you use the laptop in five configurations. The convertible comes equipped with a 12.5-inch FHD multi-touch display along with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. However, Toshiba is yet to reveal the RAM details and the exact details of the processor as well.
Toshiba Portégé X20W offers one USB Type-C port, Thunderbolt 3 port and retains the 3.5mm audio jack. The convertible is bundled with the TruPen which takes into account 2,048 levels of pressure and aims at becoming the perfect tool for drawing, taking notes and many other related use cases. The audio department is well attended to, thanks to the Harman Kardon stereo speakers and the DTS Sound software, also, the speakers adapt themselves to the rotational view thus ensuring that the same quality of audio can be heard from all the angles.
The Portégé X20W is compatible with Toshiba WiGig Dock and Toshiba Thunderbolt 3 Dock. Weight and Dimensions play a very important role when it comes to convertible laptops and the Portégé X20W measures 15.4mm thin and weighs well within 2.5 pounds. Toshiba has also fitted the laptop with a pair of IR cameras and multi-directional microphones in order to gear up for Cortana and Windows Hello support. Microsoft says that the Slate Grey Toshiba Portégé X20W will be available soon on Microsoft Store.
