Xiaomi Launches its Wafer Thin Mi TV 4 and Mi Router HD with 8TB Storage at CES 2017

Xiaomi has been known for its independent launches and it was the first time that they actually launched something at the CES. The Chinese company pulled the wraps from its Mi TV 4 along with a white color variant of the Mi Mix and a Mi Router HD. The Mi TV is the thinnest TV by Xiaomi and at 4.9mm it’s, in fact, thinner than most of the smartphones.

The 4K TV will be offered in 49-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch variant and this time around Xioami has added the modular feature allowing users to update the internals including the motherboard as and when deemed necessary. This is possible since Xiaomi, unlike other manufacturers, has placed the motherboard and other internals in the Mi Bar which is connected to the TV.

The Mi TV 4 will come paired with Mi TV Bar which consists of 10-speakers, 2-wireless rear satellite speakers along with a subwoofer. Xiaomi is yet to announce the pricing details for the Mi TV 4 but Hugo Barra assured in the keynote that the TV will be priced below $2000 (Rs 1,35,000) and will start shipping to China by next half of the year. Also, the Mi TV 4 is the first TV to feature Dolby Atmos audio technology and Xiaomi is also offering a Mi TV 4 variant without Dolby Atmos and it is expected to cost much less. The new Mi Port by Xiaomi will connect the Mi TV Bar to the display and will consist of a single cable.

We have seen the Patchwell AI (Artificial Intelligence) implementation on Xiaomi TV’s before and the Mi TV 4 comes with the Patchwall flavored Android OS which will use its AI capabilities for content recommendations. The Patchwell makes use of movie databases across platforms and will also match it up with the user’s preferences. Apart from the TV Xiaomi has also announced the new Mi Router HD which will be priced starting at $200 (Rs 13,530) for the 1TB variant while the 8TB one is expected to cost somewhere in the $500 (Rs 33,907) range. The router is capable of transfer speeds up to 2.600 Mbps and comes with a feature to backup all the devices on the Dropbox.
