Design and Display

When it comes to looks the Homtom S16 is just like every other low budget device, this does not mean it has bad design but it does not have any spectacular or distinguishing design. One of the compromises made in this smartphone is the fact that it is made of plastic and not metal which is common in the price category of the device. The smartphone is available in black, blue and white with a thickness of about 8.9mm.

The Homtom S16 features a 5.5-inch 1280 x 640 resolution HD display with full GFF lamination. Also it follows the latest trend of aspect ratio of 18:9 which is featured in other high end devices.  Due to the fact that it is made of plastic, the smartphone weighs about 165g which is lightweight compared to most devices in its category.

Camera

This one of the plus side of this device has it sports a dual rear camera set up which gives it an edge over other device in this category. The Homtom S16 features a 13MP + 2MP rear camera set up with LED flash and a front camera of 8MP. However, this dual rear camera set up does not necessarily translates to stellar images but will certainly improve the quality.

Hardware and Software

On the inside there is a MediaTek MT6580 quad core processor with a 32 bit architecture although a 64 bit architecture would have been better in this case but this is one of the compromise of a low budget smartphone.

Ina addition, there is a combination of 2 GB with a 16 GB that can extended using a memory card to 32 GB. Homtom S16 runs a slightly modified Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box with some little innovation to it.

Homtom S16 is available in several outlets online in Kenya and Nigeria with a price ranging from 21, 000 naira to 26, 000 naira based on the vendor and your location in the country.
