Save Up To 62 Percent On These Open-Box Sony Over-Ear Headphones

Sony is among the top players when it comes to audio equipment. And, while they’re certainly justified in charging a pretty penny for their premium hardware, it would be nice to get a pair of headphones without dealing a sucker punch to your checking account.

If you’re a smart shopper, you know the web is filled with deals on premium tech goods—and Sony is no exception. Today, we’ve found deals on four Sony headphones that are available for a fraction of what you’d pay new.

These Sony models are certified “New Open Box” models, which means they’re often excess inventory that had been sitting on store shelves. The boxes may have suffered a ding or two, but each pair are verified as new condition by Sony, ensuring you get some premium brand-new equipment at significantly less than retail price. Read on to see what’s available:

Wireless Headphones

There are two wireless Sony headphone models up for grabs. Both the Sony MDR-XB650BT Extra Bass ($59.99, originally $129.99) and Sony ZX220BT On-Ear ($34.99, originally $79.99) models connect seamlessly to your devices for the ultimate convenience of never getting wrapped in a headphone cord. The XB650’s are rocking Extra Bass technology for deeper, richer low-end delivery as well as considerably longer battery life (30 hrs. vs. 8 hours) than the ZX220’s, which make for exceptional performance.

Yet despite that, the ZX220’s might actually be a savvier pick with a shorter charging time (2.5 hours vs. 4 hours), a considerably lighter weight (4.6 oz. vs. 6.7 oz), a battery level indicator and even a slightly higher sound pressure level producing even more volume to your sound waves.

Removing budgets from the equation, the XB650’s look like the better pick for folks with extended commutes that might need to beefier battery life, while the ZX220’s are more suited for those who need something a bit more portable that they can take anywhere in a pinch. Whichever you pick, you’ll be saving a pretty penny off the retail price by grabbing a new open box model.

Wired Headphones

The Sony MDR-XB450AP Extra Bass ($29.99, originally $79.99) and Sony ZX110AP Extra Bass ($16.99, originally $29.99) are the other two new open box headphones on this list, and they’re both wired models. Yes, the XB450’s have the performance edge here with lower low-end frequency (5Hz vs 12Hz) and the higher sound pressure level (102dB vs. 98dB) than the ZX110’s. However, the ZX110’s are foldable, so they can be easily flipped into their included carrying case to make for much-improved portability.

In short, the XB450’s are probably better suited for the traditional audiophile, while the ZX110’s might be better for those of us who enjoy listening to quality music but rarely have time to jam out at home and want something to listen with on the bus, plane, etc.
