Nvidia’s flagship Ada Lovelace GPU is primed for launch at GTC next month, and more benchmarks have leaked out showing what an absolute beast it’s rumored to be. A new benchmark score from Time Spy Extreme aligns with previous leaks, showing the card to be twice as powerful as the RTX 3090. This leak also includes some tantalizing info on clock speeds and full-load temperatures as well.
The latest info comes from now-deleted photos posted to the Chiphell forums, courtesy of Wccftech. This person allegedly has an RTX 4090 and posted the benchmark score for Time Spy Extreme (TSE) along with some monitoring info that gives us the first glimpse into its clock speeds and operating temperatures. Its benchmark score of 20,192 would make it faster than some of the dual-GPU scores in the TSE Hall of Fame. That includes dual RTX 3090s and RX 6950 XT scores. For context, your humble author ran TSE on his lowly RTX 3080 and got a GPU score of 8,278.
Although we’re always a bit wary we’re being trolled with these “leaks,” this alleged score is slightly above a previous TSE score from a reputable leaker. In July kopite7kimi wrote on Twitter the RTX 4090 would be hitting 19,000 in TSE, so this aligns somewhat with that level of performance.

Even more interesting than the benchmark score is photos showing the card’s clock speed and full-load temperature. Despite previous rumors about the GPU being a fire-breathing behemoth, it appears to be running quite cool. That’s despite operating at surprisingly high clock speeds. The photos show it running at 3,015MHz, which is absolutely unheard of for a GPU on a stock air cooler.
Additionally, it’s shown to be operating at a chilly 65C. For a GPU of this stature, a full-load temperature of 80C wouldn’t be too surprising. Wccftech points out it’s possible the reference edition for the RTX 4090 could feature three fans to deal with the extra heat. As you recall, the Founder’s Edition GPUs were all dual-fan, even the RTX 3090 Ti. Also, notable leaker Greymon55 recently posted a photo of a tri-fan GPU. It looks like an engineering sample RTX 4090, as it’s quite generic. Since there’s no mention of exotic cooling, we assume it’s the stock air cooler being used in the new leak.
Wccftech reports the RTX 4090 has a reasonable TGP of 450W, which is the same as the RTX 3090 Ti. If that’s the case it will only require a single 12-pin ATX power connector. It’s also a far cry from original reports of it being an 800W nuclear reactor. Either way, it’s seemingly shaping up to be a prodigiously powerful GPU, assuming the leaks are real. We’ll all find out soon enough as Nvidia CEO is expected to launch the RTX 40-series at this month’s GTC on Sept. 20. In preparation for it, this week the GeForce Twitter account posted about it, calling it Project Beyond. Hopefully, the pricing isn’t beyond our paycheck.
